Carry-On vs. Checked Bags
Fresh fruits and vegetables are typically cleared in checked bags. For carry-ons, most solid, fresh foods are acceptable. However, liquids and gels are subject to the 3.4 oz (100ml) rule.
Liquids and Gels
Any liquid or gel food item larger than 3.4 oz should be placed in your checked bags. Examples include:
- Creamy cheeses
- Creamy dips and spreads
- Gravy
- Honey
- Hummus
- Ice cream
- Jam and jelly
- Maple syrup
- Oils and vinegars
- Peanut butter
Solid Foods
You can generally bring solid foods like sandwiches, fruits, and vegetables through security. Items should be either whole, natural foods or wrapped/contained.
International Travel
Be aware of customs regulations. Many places restrict meats, vegetables, or fruit due to concerns about parasites or diseases.
TSA Guidelines
While most snacks are permissible, always check the latest TSA guidelines before your trip to ensure compliance.
