Ice hockey’s inclusion in the Olympic Winter Games has cemented its global status. The sport first appeared at the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium. A tournament was held from April 23-29.

Since 1920, ice hockey tournaments have been a part of the Olympic Games. The men’s tournament debuted at the 1920 Summer Olympics and permanently moved to the Winter Olympics in 1924, in France. The women’s tournament was introduced at the 1998 Winter Olympics.
